DOME KIT PRICES

PHILOSOPHY: One of the reasons our company has been in business over 29 years and is very reputable, is that we treat all our customers the same. Our business philosophy and product is unique to the housing industry. We believe that each person should pay for only what they need. As a result, our dome kits pricing is usually one-third to one half less than other housing kits. We do not have an 800 number because we hear from 400 to 600 interested people a month depending upon the time of the year. Each person who wants to research our kit further can do so by purchasing the Planning Kit video or CD. If we had an 800 number our clients who purchase the kit would be paying for everyone's telephone expenses. And if we gave out a Planning Kit and video to 400-600 people a month, that cost would be paid by the Building Kit client also. Plus most of our clients do not need engineer sealed building plans in order to obtain a building permit. As a result the engineer seal is a separate cost.  To order the Planning Kit or Video or CD or Model Dome Kit click on ORDER.

Our Customer Service Staff does not work on commission.  We are here to answer your questions as you research which housing kit is best for you.

DOME BUILDING KIT: Consists of all the triangular and riser component panels for the dome shell and panels for one entryway. Each component panel has 7" R-28 expanded bead polystyrene (E.P.S.) insulation, a steel reinforced concrete exterior surface (22' dome has 3" insulation) and wall board.  All triangular and riser panels now include Georgia Pacific 1/4" Dens-Deck wallboard on the interior surface of the insulation.

Our dome building kit does not include doors & windows. There is such a variety and varying price points, we leave that up to each client to purchase locally.  The floor plan you select will determine how many entryways or dormers you will have.  Within the entryways & dormers {eye brows}, you or your framing subcontractor installs a vertical wall to frame in what ever standard doors or windows you have purchased locally.

We specialize in the manufacturing of the special dome kit.   No interior items are included in the building kit.    We believe you should not pay shipping on conventional items that you can purchase locally such as:  plumbing, electrical, framing, flooring, kitchen cabinets, bathroom fixtures, lighting fixtures, etc.

BUILDING KIT OPTIONS: Options are determined by your choice of floor plan; therefore, they are priced separately.  Where you want to have doors and windows, riser and triangle panels are omitted from the dome kit.  For structural integrity entryways or dormers have to be installed instead.  Under the entryway or dormers, a 2x4 framed wall is built on site to fit whatever door or window you purchase locally.  The 2x4 framed wall is not structural.

Entryways are available as standard, high profile, and garage. 22' and 27' domes can have garage entryways only. Entryway panels consist of 3" E.P.S. wrapped in steel mesh and are concreted on the under side.  On site you stucco the top sides and finish the lip edge.  The outside lip edge of the entryway is built on site to become a solid concrete trough reinforced with rebars.  Within entryways, your locally purchased windows and doors are installed within a 2x4 framed wall that you build on site.

Dormer panels consist of 3" E.P.S. wrapped in steel mesh. Dormer panels require on-site stuccoing on all sides. 22' and 30' domes can have window dormers only on the first floor.  Within window dormers or door dormers, your locally purchased window or door is installed within a 2x4 framed wall that you build on site.

The Cupola top is made from the top five insulated panels of the dome with overhang panels (eaves) added on site.  The topside exterior of the five panels of the cupola and the underside exterior of the eave are prefinished with steel reinforced concrete, while the topside and edges of the eave are stuccoed onsite.  We recommend that you build the cupola only if you want a third floor loft in the 40' or larger domes.  The cupola is a way to add height to the top center of the dome and another way to have opening windows.

Skylights do not open and are installed inside of our triangular component panels.  The skylight consists of two pieces of thick tempered safety glass (like car side window glass) about 46"h x 50" with air space.  Typical window glass is 1/8 thick and is not tempered.  Tempering makes the glass stronger. We tested the skylight by dropping a 4 long 2x4 at varying heights to see when it would break.  The 2x4 was dropped end wise from a ladder over the skylight.  The exterior piece of glass broke at 12.

Desiccant is installed between the two pieces of glass to keep sweating down.  Gas between pieces of glass does not stop sweating. The skylight provides over 8 square feet of glass. We put together the glass panels at our factory.  A triangular hole is cast in the concreted component panel where the skylight sits on a ledge.  Aluminum strips, stainless steel screws and black weather stripping are used to install the skylight.

Link panels utilize either 3 1/2" or 7" E.P.S. and are not concreted or wrapped in steel mesh. The steel mesh needed to wrap the link panels is shipped with the kit.  You wrap the panels with steel mesh and concrete them on site.  There is no charge for a standard link when two domes are purchased. If you purchase the first dome with a link and add the second dome later, a cost will be added to the first dome to cover the complete link and credited when the second dome is purchased.  For example a 40 dome link would cost about $1,000.

PAYMENT: Building Kit & Screen Dome Kit orders require a 30% deposit for us to schedule manufacturing.  The balance, in the form of a cashier's check, is due 1 week prior to shipment. Florida residents add 6% sales tax.

Sorry, credit cards cannot be used to pay for the Building Kits.

Delivery:   Once we receive the 30% deposit and the signed Kit Order Form, we schedule your kit for manufacturing.  Allow twelve weeks in summer and eight weeks in winter for manufacturing time.

SHIPPING: is scheduled after we receive the final payment.  One semi truck can carry one 30', one 34', one 40', one 45', one 48' kit,  two 27' kits, or three 22' kits. A 60' kit requires two trucks. Shipping arrangements can be made by us.  You pay the truck driver when he arrives at your site.

Our manufacturing costs here in Florida are well below the national average, which offsets any long distance shipping expenses.  We can actually manufacture a kit here in Florida and ship it to Washington cheaper than we could manufacture it there.  Having our manufacturing plant located in Florida is advantageous for shipping since more is shipped in than out of the state, leaving many trucks headed out empty. Using an independent trucking agency, we contract to have these trucks carry our building kits outside Florida for a low cost of approximately $1.30 to $1.40 per mile.  Shipping within Florida is a minimum of $500.  This is less than we could do with our own trucks.

Building Plan sets contain all blueprints typically provided with any type of housing and include floor plans, exterior elevations, dome shell section view, top view showing panel placement, floor joist framing plans, structural details, and locations of plumbing and electrical fixtures.

We only put a few of the stock plans on our web site.  In the Planning Kit is a 60 page Stock Floor Plan Booklet that contains stock plans for the 22' thru 48' domes.  All 60' dome plans are custom.   If you do not see a plan that fits your lifestyle we can modify our stock plans or we design custom plans for a reasonable fee.  To order the Planning Kit/Stock Floor Plan Booklet click on ORDER.

What we have found works best is for you to sketch out your ideas on a stock plan or on the blue floor planner pages in the stock floor plan booklet and email them to us or fax them to us at 321-639-8778.  We do not make in-office appointments to discuss floor plans.  Please include your name, address, telephone number and best time(s) to contact you.  Either Michael or the plans designer will review your sketch and call you with questions and a price quote.  Once we receive payment in full for the Building Plans, we schedule them for production.  We will fax you rough drafts that you review and make changes on and fax them back to us.  After you approve the final draft, we design your structural blue prints and complete your plans.

All new construction in Florida and California requires engineer sealed building plans to obtain a building permit.  This seal can be purchased through us.  In Florida a 40' dome seal is about $400.  In California a seal is $1,500 to $3,000 depending on the size dome and county you wish to build in.

Designs utilizing steel joists and studs are available for an additional $30 per floor.

Stock plans utilize a concrete slab foundation. For raised wood floor designs, call for a quote.

Building plans may be purchased with Master Card, Visa, American Express, Discover, check, or money orders. Plans are shipped UPS ground free of charge. Stock plans are shipped in 2-3 weeks. Allow at least 4 weeks for modified plans and 7 weeks for custom plans.

For assistance with your building departments, selecting subcontractors, etc. we know of a Pre-Construction Consultant.  Click on Pre-Construction Consultant to learn more about this service.
